Aly's First Christmas

We had such a wonderful first Christmas with Aly! It was busy (of course!) but so much fun. She held up incredibly well. Luckily we were able to get a couple of naps in between trips. She got lots of fun new things and we having fun exploring everything now. Of course she would have been perfectly happy with boxes and wrapping paper, those were her favorites:)

Teeth

I was able to get the teeth on camera!

KJo Comes to Visit

KJo finally got to come see us over the Holidays! Aly loved her from the start!

Break Stuff

The theme for the week was "Break Stuff". It started with my car and (hopefully!) ended with my camera. Aly decided it would be fun to grab my camera and throw it on the ground. We were in the kitchen which has hard floors and the camera broke. I cannot live without my camera so we immediately had to go get a new one. Luckily, I got just a slightly more updated version of my old one so I didn't have to learn any new technology. As far as my car goes, well, there was no slightly updating there, it was just get a completely new, different one than before and hope it does not break nearly as often as a Ford Escape. It's a Toyota Highlander and so far I love it!

Santa

Friday was the Little Village Christmas program. Aly got to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus! My little Kindergartners did a fabulous job in their play (our months of practice paid off!) and Aly held up well considering it was way past her bedtime by the time Santa arrived. She just thought Santa was the most fascinating thing ever. It was a good thing the beard was real because she gave it some good tugs:)

We're Country

Anyone who watched Brittany Spears on Dateline a few years back should get title of this post. Aly was helping me learn the features of my new car.

A Hunting We Will Go

Aly always dresses for the seasons, including hunting season!

Jayne and Mason come to visit

My friend Jayne brought her 9 month old to visit last Friday. He and aly had lots of fun together!

Baby Proofing

Aly seems to have the urge to crawl. We know it could still be awhile but we wanted to be ready so we tested out our new gate on Shadow. Although nothing is ever "Shadow-proof" (and we have a hole in a wall to prove it), it did take her long enough to figure out that we think it should work for Aly!

6 Months Old

Aly is half of a year old! She weighs 17 lbs 12 oz and is 27 inches long! She is growing like a weed. The Dr. says all is great. She may have allergies so we are trying a little medicine for that. We are supposed to up her eating of "real" food. She is rolling over all of the time, sitting up on her own, loves playing, gets so excited when she sees her dog, looking like she's ready to crawl, babbling (we think da-da might be the first word), and cutting teeth. She just loves activity and doesn't want to miss a thing! Such a fun time!

First Thanksgiving

Aly had a GREAT first Thanksgiving. She was so good as she was passed from person to person to person... We had Thanksgiving at our house like we have the past 3 years. Aly's Great Grandma Dolan was able to come and her Great Aunt Becki and second cousin Holly came in from Florida. Aly had never met Holly so that was exciting for both of them. All of Aly's grandparents came, Aunt Meghan, Great Aunt Lynne, her cousins Ashleigh and Elijah and of course Mommy, Daddy and Shadow!
Aly didn't venture out for early morning Black Friday this year (even though she was up in time!) but Mommy did! Maybe next year Aly will go:)

Tooth Number Two

Aly has another tooth popping up! It is also on the bottom. She likes to stick her tongue over them when we look for them but when she cries you can see them quite well. You can also feel them, I hope she doesn't become "the biter" in the class!

Aunt Meghan Goes Shopping

Aunt Meghan went to the Jeffersonville Outlet Mall and had a little too much fun!

Family Photo Shoot

We had our first family photo today! Here are a few of the pictures. It was a lot of fun. Aly did great even though she hardly napped at all before we went (I was prepared for a complete meltdown, but she proved me wrong, it's already her favorite thing to do!).
Don't worry, I put these picture up legally, we have the rights to them:)

First Tooth!

Aly is cutting her first tooth! We just noticed it tonight. It is bottom middle. It's about a quarter of the way up. She hasn't been fussy about it so hopefully that will continue. I couldn't get a good picture of it but when I do I will post it!

Sitting Up

Aly is doing well sitting on her own. We just recently started trying this:)

I'm With the Band

Aly loves Aerosmith. She discovered them all on her own, no help from her mother whatsoever. She was a little drooly this day!

Trick or Treat

Aly was a dragon for Halloween. We didn't go trick or treating since everyone knows that if you are taking a 5 month old trick or treating you're not collecting candy for her! We did go around to a few places to show her off though. She did a good job in her costume but she was out like a light by the time we got home.

A Nice Relaxing Bath

Aly likes to relax in her whirlpool tub after a long day at school! Today was especially hard since she was the only kid in her room! She had Miss Melissa's undivided attention all day long:)

"Real" Food

Aly tried green beans on Sunday. This was her first taste of real food. She made a horrible face and she shook her head a few times but she is getting used to them.

Music Mama

Aly has quite the musical talent. She loves to drum and play her piano.

Rolling Over!

Aly rolled over today! It happened at school. We knew she was close, it was just a matter of when! Miss Melissa was the first to see it, but she came and got me so I could come see:) We practiced some more when we got home. So far it has just been from back to stomach.

Open Mouth Insert Foot

Her latest trick:)

First Slumber Party

On Saturday Aly and I went to help Janelle out with Jordyn's first slumber party. Janelle was brave and crazy to have 7 second graders spend the night! The girls did great. Aly and I stayed and hung out for awhile.

Christmas in October

Every year Little Village does Operation Evergreen. It's a program that sends trees over to our troops for the holiday season. We are in charge of making hundreds of ornaments for the trees. We have to have them all ready to send by the beginning of November so October is ornament month. We had a Family Ornament Making Day at LV on Saturday. Aly had to dress for the occasion of course!

Bundle Up

It can be chilly out when we head to school so we have been able to get some use out of our carseat cover.

The Concept of a Spoon

Aly can't seem to grasp the concept of a spoon. We've been working on it but food actually staying in her mouth has yet to be accomplished!

4 Month Check-Up

We went to the doctor for Aly's 4 month visit. She weighs 15 pounds 6 ounces and is 25 inches tall. The doctor said she is doing great:) It's so hard to believe that she is 4 months already! These past 4 months went a whole lot faster than the last 4 months of being pregnant!

First Race

Aly was in her first road race on Saturday, Sept. 27. It was the Blessed Sacrament 5k. It was a small race but a good one to get Mommy back into racing:) Mommy and Aly came in second in Mommy's age group, Aunt Meghan came in third in her age group and Grandpa Poth came in first in his age group!

Great News

We recently found out that after 3 years of trying to find an area in Granville that they will let Little Village build on, that our plans have been approved and foundation will be poured this week! The new building will be about triple the size of our current school. We are all so excited and are keeping our fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly. We should be in by Summer '09!

School Pictures

Today was Picture Day at LV. I got a picture of her before school just in case the outfit didn't last until 10:30 (but it did). Aly was not all about having her picture taken at first. She cried for most of the first attempt but then when we tried again after all the big kids got their pictures she did fine. We got them done outside and it was a beautiful day, we can't wait to get them back!

First Parade

Aly went to her first parade on Sept. 21. It was the United Way Parade hosted by the Jay-Cees. Aunt Meghan is a member. Aly had lots of fun and enjoyed the bands.

Football Frenzy

Aly had three big days of football this weekend! Newark Catholic on Friday, OSU on Saturday and Chicago on Sunday.

Da Bears

Sunday, September 7 was Aly's first Football Sunday. She was pumped for the Bears/Colts game, but didn't get to watch it because it was the night game but she did go down to watch some of the afternoon games with her dad. She likes to talk through the whole game just like her mom. She was so happy to hear that the Bears won the game, beating the Colts 29-13 or something like that.

The BFFs of BH

With the new season of 90210 starting this week I wanted to be sure that Aly was in the loop so we spent a good deal of Labor Day catching up with Donna, Kelly and Brenda.

Look What I Can Do

Aly has been crazy about her feet lately. She loves to raise them up to her face or try to grab them. She has gymnast qualities:)

She Can Sleep Anywhere

Sometimes I will sit Alyzabeth down to play and I will hear her cooing like crazy and then all of a sudden it will stop and I'll look over and she is fast asleep!
